ANDREAS VAN ZOELEN, CONDUCTOR

panorama-1.jpgAndreas studied conducting with  Jan Cober.

He concluded his studies (cum laude) by conducting a concert in which amongst others his on work was on the programme.

After his studies with Cober he enjoyed lessons with a.o. Sef Pijpers Sr. and James Barnes

His career as a conductor knows many sides. In the past he has been invited by several orchestras as guest conductor,

f.i. the “Shell Harmonie Amsterdam”, the “Regionaal Concert Orkest Amersfoort” and the “Beethoven Orchester Bonn” Germany

He also conducted the chamber orchestra of the Brabants Conservatorium, as well as the string orchestra of the Fontys Conservatory.

Recently he conducted as a guest with the choir Koninklijke Zangvereniging Venlona.

Like in his other activities van Zoelen is an ambassador for new music as a conductor.

He has worked with many composers such as Adam Gorb, thus conducting several  premieres of new pieces for orchestra.

Apart from this, he has conducted several ‘cross over’ projects, thus working with artists like Nitin Sawhney and Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra.

Since 2004 Andreas van Zoelen is chief conductor of “St. Caecilia Blerick”.

With this last orchestra van Zoelen has been awarded several prises (with distinction) in competitions.
